English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): THE WIND:
Mombasa has trade winds blowing consistently cross on shore at varying strengths through the year, very easy to remember, we have two main prime time seasons for kiteboarding in Kenya, the wind either blows for 6 months from the North or six months from the South!
The Kaskazi from the North-East, howls in from mid December, through January, February and lightening up towards the end of March. This is the peak tourist season for Kenya, very hot and windy.
The Kusi from the South East, comes in during May, and blows through June, July, August, lightening up towards the end of September. This is the second peak tourist season for Kenya, the ocean is a bit cooler (approx 24 C) but has much bigger swell at this time.
WIND STATS:
During the seasons, the wind is cross shore good for 9-12 metre kites during our peak windy seasons. It normally starts to kick in the morning and steadily builds to
20 - 25+ knots through to the early evening. See daily winds stats and tides on our weather page www.prosurfkenya/weather

Informations supplémentaires
English (Traduisez ce texte en Français):
WATER/AIR TEMP
The water is the same temperature as a bath so no wetsuit needed! (Air temp 34 - 36 C) for most of the year Boardies and Bikinis are fine! The only time that it might be considered a bit cool from wind chill (24 - 28C!) is during the season from June – August, a rash vest or 3 mm top is advised if you are out all day. Water temp is at its peak of 28 C in the Kaskazi season, and at approx 24 C in the Kusi season.
WATER DEPTH
The beach slopes off at a gentle angle and then depth is depending on the tide, but at Nyali there is always water even at low springs (unlike anywhere else on the North Coast strip). The depth on launching at the beach at a neap tide is approx < 1 m and gets progressively deeper where at about 500m from the shore the depth is about 3-4metres. It then gets shallow again and at approx 750 m from the shore is back up to about 2 – 1m depending on the tide.
Prosurf Extreme’s centre is on Nyali Beach, based at Nyali beach Hotel. Mombasa, Kenya.
The centre is open from 9am till 6.00pm every day of the year, or until the last kiter is off the water!
At the centre there is kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, catamaran sailing, and boat hire for snorkelling and light tackle fishing.
It’s very relaxed centre with “crusoe” local style sofa beds sprawling amongst the palm trees, good music and a bar from 11am – till late with happy hour prices!
There are showers, toilet facilities, loads of kite magazines, a buckets & spade play area for kids, and a team of friendly professional staff.
The Centre has something for everyone of all ages, groups, couples, singles, families.
